The Research Consortium at VCHI has partnered with the Commonwealth of Virginia as the lead evaluator on Virginia’s Rural Health Transformation program to inform the initiatives that help maximize investments to support rural Virginians.

Virginia’s Rural Health Transformation (RHT) initiative is a multi-year initiative focused on strengthening rural health systems and improving access to care, workforce capacity, and community health outcomes across the Commonwealth.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has announced that Virginia will receive $189,544,888 for the federal FY 2026. The Rural Health Transformation program is a 5-year grant with future awards to be announced based on the use of initial awards.

The Research Consortium at VCHI will lead the independent evaluation of the overall program in Virginia and measure progress toward statewide goals.
