Please join us on Wednesday, June 14th for our next speaker series event as we welcome Piper Su, Vice President at McDermott+Consulting.  McDermott+Consulting advises health care stakeholders on state and federal policy issues and offers data analysis and modeling in addition to policy development, market strategy and advocacy services.

Speaker: Piper Su

Piper Su is an accomplished legislative and policy strategist focusing on state and federal health care programs. With more than 15 years of experience in coverage, payment and care delivery policy, Piper assists clients in developing and implementing regulatory and market strategies related to Medicare, Medicaid and private sector programs. Most recently, she has focused on payment and delivery transformation policy at both the state and federal level and advised an informal coalition of states evaluating innovative policy options for reforming their Medicaid programs.

Most recently, Piper led the health policy division for the Advisory Board Company, a leading best practices research and technology firm, offering an on-the-ground perspective on how providers and other stakeholders relate to key policy and market trends. She also has worked as a senior lawyer at large law firms in the field of health care law and policy, assisting providers, insurers, and drug and device manufacturers with formal legal advice as well as legislative and regulatory strategies for Congress, the US Department of Health and Human Services, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Previously, Piper served in the US Senate as legislative counsel to Senator Ken Salazar. As his principal advisor for health-care-related activities on the Senate Finance Committee, she crafted numerous policy proposals that were subsequently enacted into law through the Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007; the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008; and the Affordable Care Act. She also worked as a law clerk to Representative Henry Waxman during his tenure as Ranking member of the House Oversight Committee.
