The Virginia Health Innovation Network is updating to a new platform!

As part of ongoing technology development, VCHI is updating the Virginia Health Innovation Network to a new platform. This will mean a slightly new look and feel to the platform but with the same functionality plus a few new features!  The new platform is hosted by HealthDoers, an initiative of the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement.  The HealthDoers Network connects people working to improve health and healthcare through online tools, virtual and in-person events. Network participants form trusting relationships to accelerate their work through collaborating, sharing best practices and supporting each other to overcome challenges. The HealthDoers Network is an initiative of the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement and is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  NRHI is the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement. NRHI represents more than 30 regional health improvement collaboratives (RHICs) and state-affiliated partners, all working toward the goals of better health, better care, and lower costs. We believe the partnership with NRHI will be mutually beneficial and look forward to working with them.

Details about the migration:

Starting Friday, March 16, the site will be read-only and cannot accept new content or new members.  The update should be completed by the end of next week and VHIN members will receive an email notification when the site is live.  Until then, here is what you need to know:

  • You will use the same URL as before (www.innovatevirginia.org) – no need to change bookmarks.
  • If you are a current member, the system will require you to reset your username/password (use the “sign up” tab) – but your PROFILE will still be there – no need to create a new one!
  • There will be online chat help, short videos and written instructions if you need help navigating the updated site.

We are striving to make this transition as seamless as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ashley Edwards: ashley@vahealthinnovation.org.

Will all the history, discussions, and files be retained?

Yes. Any existing people, documents, conversations, videos, etc will be migrated to the new site.

Will I have to learn a whole new system?

Conceptually, the new platform is very similar to the current platform – however there are some minor differences and participants may need to take a few minutes to get acquainted with the look/feel and navigation. We will provide live chat support and instructional videos to assist with this transition. We are also offering to do a short demo/instruction during an upcoming meeting you may already have scheduled if you desire.

We were just getting our stride, I’m worried about change and losing people/momentum.

We truly understand how change can be disruptive and are working to minimize that impact as much as possible during this transition. Our team is committed to providing the support needed to your community to help make this transition as much as a “non event” as possible including live chat, short instructional videos, and FAQs.
