The Virginia Center for Health Innovation was awarded a State Innovation Models Round Two Design Award in February, a grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to “design multi-payer health system transformation models” for a one-year period. VCHI deploys a health innovation plan unlike any other model with five priority areas: population health planning and design; accountable care communities; quality, payment and health information technology; healthcare workforce development; and value-based insurance design.
However, VCHI can glean plenty of lessons from its peers. Here are vignettes from half of the 34 states who have received design or testing awards from CMS. You can click on each hyperlink to view each state’s innovation model in greater depth.
